What makes a zero carbon Newland Home?

Newland Homes have finessed the blueprint of their homes to achieve zero carbon. By jettisoning gas boilers in favour of air source heat pumps, increasing the quality and specification of their solar panels, and upping the insulation levels, they’ve achieved a home which creates as much prime energy* as
it needs. In addition, all their zero carbon homes will be automatically enrolled on a zero carbon renewable energy tariff.

*Prime energy is the regulated energy used to provide lighting, heating and hot water in the home assessed by a standard procedure
assuming a typical family lifestyle as indicated in the homes’ Energy Performance Certificate.

Each house benefits from the following Eco friendly features:

• Solar PV to assist with electricity production

• Air source heat pumps

• Optional battery for electricity storage

• Work from home spaces

• Electric vehicle charging points

• Rainwater butts and composters included where possible

• Eco bins integrated with each kitchen

• Cycle storage

• Hedgehog highways

• RHS approved bee friendly planting across all developments

The end result is that these homes are power houses in their own right; creating as much regulated prime energy as they need to run and therefore reducing energy costs and minimising the impact that everyday living has on the environment.  The homes emit no net carbon in use, a marked reduction from the 3.6 tonnes of CO2 emitted per annum by the average UK home (according to the HBF Watt a Save report in Feb 2023).

Bespoke Kitchens by Peter Clinch are incredibly proud to be part of the zero carbon initiative at Newland Homes. Watch this space for the next carbon zero development due to be launched in the coming months.
